OMG.
My husband just showed me a text-based game he was making--an interactive text web page--for a Quest of Dai: The Eroe GAME. It is AWESOME. HOLY CRAP.
Example:
Dai bolted up in bed, gasping for air. The red eyes from her nightmare hung in the recesses of her mind, mocking her fear. Silent laughter echoed around the room and she shuddered, wrapping her arms around herself as icy cold wind snaked across her body. She looked over at the door, relieved to see Westly's sleeping figure.
Does Dai: wake Westly up or go back to bed?
[Underlined lines are links!]
[You select one of the options, and new text shows up! Let's say we selected "wake Westly up".]
Dai crept up from the bed, slowly making her way across the room to where Westly sat, guarding her even in sleep. She watched his eyelashes part, his head lifting to look up at her. For a moment she stood uncertainly, meeting his unreadable gaze, and then she slowly finished crossing the distance between them.
Does Dai: tell Westly about her nightmare or sit silently beside him?
Get the idea?! It's a choose-your-own-adventure! On a web page! With The Quest of Dai! /giddy
Tell me that isn't awesome! My husband is so cool.
